I’m excited to welcome a new friend, Sheena Schuy, onto the podcast today!
Sheena and I connected recently (thanks to the lovely internet) – we actually connected on Threads, which I am currently loving!!
Sheena Schuy is based in Australia; she’s a mum of 2 boys, serial entrepreneur, and podcast host of Burnout to Brilliance (I was a recent guest on her podcast and it was an amazing conversation). As a holistic therapist, she specialized in supporting her clients with anxiety and burnout. In addition to her private practice, Sheena also started mentoring other therapists and health professionals, but quickly realized she could NOT sustain 2 separate businesses for long.
Now, she’s the owner and director of Savasana Collective, where she combines holistic psychology with business mentorship and consultancy. She’s found a beautiful balance in creating a business she loves that ALSO gives her time freedom and flexibility in her day-to-day life!
In today’s episode, we talk about healing hustle culture and burnout, and how to break free and up-level your life, career, and business. Sheena and I have both experienced burnout on our journeys, and it can be a very difficult place to be.
Burnout seems to be EVERYWHERE these days; it’s usually connected to anxiety, and is the place you land right before depression sets in. Burnout doesn’t necessarily look the same for everyone, but your body WILL send you signs that something isn’t right.
Whether it’s never-ending fatigue or feeling dread (instead of joy) for the things that used to excite you, this isn’t something you can repress again and again, and expect it to go away. You HAVE to address it in order to heal and move forward!
Sheena and I also dive into the struggle that sooo many women have experienced their whole lives (we have too); the need for constant achievement and accolades, in order to gain others’ approval. Most of us have grown up thinking we were only ‘good’ and ‘lovable’ if we were achieving, and proving how awesome we were at everything we did.
You don’t HAVE to be constantly achieving and doing #allthethings, but unfortunately, hustle culture has led you to believe otherwise. I think it’s important to note that we all inherited this ‘dream’ that generations before us created. Except…it’s not really a dream, and is more like chaos (and sometimes, literal hell).
While the infamous ‘mid-life crisis’ is happening MUCH earlier for us, we’re actually doing the inner work and healing to make it on the other side of burnout and overwhelm!
There is nothing more magical than finding what aligns with you, grounds you, and really lights your soul UP, in business, and all areas of your life! Your legacy that you’re living should allow you to be loving, present, and fulfilled – not stressed, always working, and questioning yourself.
This was such a beautiful and vulnerable conversation with Sheena – how refreshing and cup-filling it is to connect like this! I hope this episode shows you that it’s totally possible to heal from hustle culture, turn your burnout into brilliance, and TRULY up-level your life in a way that feels authentic and aligned. You deserve nothing less!
