I’m excited to welcome another incredible guest, Sarah Welch, onto the podcast today!

Sarah and I connected on Instagram – I resonated with basically every single thing she was sharing, and I knew I had to invite her onto the show!

Sarah is a self-experimenting coach who helps others get reacquainted with their most authentic selves. She experienced her own trauma while growing up; she struggled with her weight, depression, and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD. She basically felt like the ‘black sheep’ of her family. Not only did she feel lost with those around her, but even more so out in the world.

Eventually, Sarah left her nursing career, dove into learning more about her ADHD diagnosis and how to manage it, and built her online presence. She’s found a way to live authentically, ‘come home’ to herself, and no longer does what others think she *should* do!

In today’s part 1 episode, we talk about self-experimenting, unmasking, and the process of discovering who you really are. Sarah and I both share what it’s looked like to unpack all of our ‘stuff’ – especially after receiving our ADHD diagnoses.

For me, my personal growth journey started when I decided to get healthier after having my second child. I had NO idea that I would get into entrepreneurship, crash into burnout, and eventually untangle (and actually understand) my addiction to achievement and approval. I was connecting the dots within myself and my family, and honestly, it was the beautiful awakening that I needed!

Sarah and I also dive into practical steps you can take to get to know yourself again, what ‘checking in’ with yourself can look like in your day to day life, and the concept of ‘masking’. Masking is something that I think many of us as women (and moms) relate to, because we feel that we need to show up a certain way. It leads us to focus on making ourselves more ‘digestible’ for others in society, but along the way..we become a shell of ourselves, and have no idea who the hell we are anymore.

One of the most pivotal, eye-opening parts of my journey has been motherhood. There’s nothing quite as beautiful or hard as raising children – they are the ones who bring to light your traumas, triggers, and the work you need to do to fully HEAL.

Phew..it can be challenging and overwhelming when you’re in it, but showing them that it’s actually *okay* to feel allll of the emotions is totally worth it. I like to think of it as being a ‘cycle starter’; I’ve been able to ‘come home’ to myself, which also shows them that THEY can do the same, and fully know, love, and trust themselves.

If you’re on a journey of discovering who YOU really are, you’re going to resonate sooo much with these episodes with Sarah. This is part 1 of 2, so make sure to come back for part 2 next week as we continue this conversation!!

Sarah Welch is a self-experimenting coach who helps others reconnect with their most authentic selves. Through topics like perfectionism, self-sabotage, and neurodivergence, she reminds us that self-love and meaningful growth are within reach.

In this episode about self-experimenting and unmasking: discovering who you really are, we cover:

  • Sarah’s journey with ADHD, autism, and depression, which led to her self-experimenting and ultimately, ‘coming home’ to herself

  • What can happen when you ‘crack open’ everything within yourself that you’ve been ignoring (and not really understanding) for SO long

  • Practical steps you can take to get to know yourself again

  • What ‘checking in with yourself’ actually looks like

  • The concept of ‘masking’ + how it can show up in your life

  • The incredibly beautiful AND hard part about raising children + being a cycle ‘starter’ in regards to moving forward

  • How the self-help/personal growth space has romanticized happiness + made us feel like all other emotions are ‘bad’

  • The imbalance that our society has with anger/rage in men vs. women + how this emotion shows up for women especially

  • The misguided expectation we have that someone else needs to ‘fill our needs’
